How do Driverless LEDs work?
Posted by Dara Greaney on 9/26/2016 to
LED Lights
Driverless LEDs, also known as Driver on Board or DOB technology, are a type of LED lights that do not need a separate driver to control the electrical current and supply clean DC power to the LED. Instead, they use a high voltage integrated circuit with regulating and switching chips to intelligently adjust the number of LEDs in a string during an AC line cycle so that the voltage of the LED string matches the instantaneous AC line voltage. This way, they can directly connect to the AC mains without any external driver modules.
How many lumens do I need from my LED Light? How Bright?
Posted by Dara Greaney on 8/27/2016 to
LED Lights
The brightness of LED lights depends on how many lumens they produce. Lumens are a measure of the total amount of visible light from a source. The more lumens, the brighter the light. However, the number of lumens you need from your LED light also depends on other factors, such as the size and shape of the area you want to illuminate, the height and angle of the light fixture, the color and temperature of the light, and the purpose and mood of the lighting.
To help you decide how many lumens you need from your LED light, you can use some general guidelines based on different types of lighting applications
